Do Children Need a Uganda eVisa? 2025 Family Travel Guide

Overview

Every traveler, regardless of age, needs their own Uganda eVisa application—no exceptions. This includes infants, children, and teenagers. Each person must have their own passport and their own eVisa approval letter. Applications can be filed in group (max 15 passengers per application) through uganda-immigration.com, and immigration officers will ask for proof of relationship plus parental consent if both parents are not present.

Who Counts as a Minor in Uganda?

  • Minor: Anyone under 18 years of age.
  • Infant: Under 2 years.
  • Child: 2–12 years.
  • Teen: 13–17 years.

All minors must travel with a responsible adult (parent, legal guardian, or authorized chaperone).

Key Requirements for Traveling with Children

  1. Individual passports valid at least six months beyond arrival for each child.
  2. Individual eVisa approvals (Tourist, Transit, or East Africa Tourist Visa) for each child.
  3. Birth certificate or legal document proving the relationship to accompanying adults.
  4. Notarized consent letters when one or both parents stay behind.
  5. Yellow fever certificate if arriving from or transiting through risk countries.

Important: There are no exceptions to the individual application requirement. Every child, including newborns, must have their own eVisa.

How to Submit a Child's eVisa Application

  1. Gather documents: Passport scan, photo, birth certificate, consent letters, itinerary for each child.
  2. Choose visa type: Select the correct visa type (Tourist eVisa, Transit eVisa, or East Africa Tourist Visa).
  3. Complete application: Enter each child's information exactly as shown in their passport. Max 15 passengers per application
  4. Upload files: Attach supporting documents in JPG/PNG/PDF formats under 2 MB for each application.
  5. Pay the fee: Each child's application requires payment of the government fee plus service fee.
  6. Track and print: Download the approval letter for each child once emailed and print two copies—airlines may collect one at check-in.

Repeat the process for each child; there is no shared "family visa" or group application option that waives individual requirements.

FAQs

Can siblings share one application?
Yes, up to 15 passengers per application. However, every child must receive a separate visa. There are no exceptions.

What if my child has dual nationality?
Apply with the passport they'll use to enter Uganda and carry the second passport if needed for exit.

Do minors pay the same fee?
Yes, visa fees are identical regardless of age. Each child's application requires payment of the government fee plus service fee.

What if documents are in another language?
Provide certified translations (English is accepted).

Can I apply for my children together?
While you can submit multiple passengers in one application, each child still requires their own complete documents, and payment. There is no discount or waiver for children.
